Description: This print depicts two young women sitting on a veranda, a third one is peeping through the shoji screen behind. The woman in the purple robe appears to be whispering something into her companion’s ear, while the other woman delicately holds a fan in one hand. The scene suggests a private conversation, inviting the viewer to imagine it’s nature.

The depiction of human emotions and intimate moments is characteristic of Suzuki Harunobu’s work. Renowned for his sensitivity and refinement in his depiction of human figures, he frequently portrayed scenes of romance and personal interaction, capturing the nuances of human relationships with remarkable delicacy and elegance.

Harunobu is also known as the first artist to produce full-color prints (nishiki-e) in 1765 rendering obsolete the former modes of two- and three-color prints. Many light neutral colors are used in this print, and the unique blending of colors looks beautiful.
