Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketAkashi - The Tale of Genji![]() Size: 40.0cm by 30.5cm (15.75 in by 12.01 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Okada Yoshio Era: Mid Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ![]() Description: We have here a single print from the well-known set of four designs that the late Okada Yoshio created for the Genji Monogatari. [The full set is included in our Mokuhankan Collection here.] The print set was created by the Yuyudo Company in the late 1970s. Okada's designs originally appeared in the Shukan Asahi weekly magazine, to accompany a modern adaptation of the Genji story by the noted writer Tanabe Seiko. This print was trapped in a bad frame for years, and is thus heavily toned. But there is no foxing or mold, and - unusually for this print - the vermillion pigment is still in excellent condition (the frame must have been quite airtight). There are remnants of tape on the reverse (see photos). ![]() ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
