Description: This spectacular item may look familiar at first, until you look at the dimensions - it is in double ōban format. The print is huge, approximately 50 x 35 cm! The set of prints was published by Kyoeido probably in the 1960s or 1970s.

Utamaro created numerous prints of Yamauba and her adopted son, Kintarō. In this printing, he expressively depicted a mother and child, with Kintarō clinging tightly to his mother's back with a frustrated expression, perhaps wanting to play with her as she washes her hair.

This print has slight spots and creases. Our strongly raking light has exaggerated the waviness in the paper, caused where the print was attached to a previous backing sheet at the right edge.
