Description: This print is from Kunisada's series 当世六玉顔, Six Modern Jewel-like Faces. The title 六玉顔 (Mu Tamagao) is a parody on the renowned six rivers in Japan, 六玉川 (Mu Tamagawa).

Ukiyo-e researchers feel that the person depicted here on a pleasure boat is probably a male prostitute in a woman's costume. The loose summer kimono, the nibbling on edamame snack, and the feeling of ennui, bring a very decadent mood to the design.

This particular print is a post-war reproduction by Yamada Shoin.

This print was carved by legendary Mr. Susumu Ito, who deeply influenced Dave. The YouTube video featuring Ito-san became one of the most viewed on his channel ...

There are a few marks at the margin of this print.
