The original print was made in the 1830s, although this particular print is a post-war reproduction. The word in the original title, "Haku-u" (white rain), means a sudden shower in the sunshine. This print depicts the exquisite beauty of a rain scene with people hurriedly passing on the Nihonbashi bridge, with Mt.Fuji far in the background. This version is from a set that consists of 24 works created by Hiroshige and reproduced by Takamizawa during the post-war period. They carefully selected the best prints from various series and reproduced them in a slightly smaller size than the originals. This particular edition was produced by Takamizawa Company in the 1970s.
