Karuizawa is one of the best-known in the series as the first station on the ancient highway. It skillfully depicts a mundane scene of a traveler and horse drivers lighting their tobacco pipes in a rural farming village. This version is from a set that consists of 24 works created by Hiroshige and reproduced by Takamizawa during the post-war period. They carefully selected the best prints from various series and reproduced them in a slightly smaller size than the originals. This particular edition was produced by Takamizawa Company in the 1970s. This reproduction is at a slightly smaller dimension than the original.
