Description: This print is from a collection of woodblock prints of beautiful women from the Meiji period by a number of leading designers of the day, including Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, Ogata Gekko, and Kaburagi Kiyokata. The collection "Meiji no Onna" (Women of Meiji) was published in 1977 by Soudosha, and most of the designs were being reproduced for the first time.

The original version of this print was a kuchi-e magazine frontispiece. The bokashi shading on her hair is unusual, and wonderfully executed.

There are very slight foxing spots in a couple of places (see photos), and a waviness on the upper right where the print was formerly attached to a backing sheet (exaggerated in the raking light of the photo).
