Description: 'Edo Meisho', or 'Famous Places in Edo' is the theme of Hiroshige's final major print production, a set of more than 100 woodblock prints based on views in and around the old capital.

The designs were originally produced as o-ban (normal full-size) prints, but over the years have been reproduced in any number of different formats. This little book contains 30 or the designs re-carved in the hagaki (postcard) dimension. The blocks seem to have been cut either in the late Meiji or perhaps the Taisho period (Mokuhankan owns a set of prints taken from them back in the pre-war period), but were re-used many times down the years.

This current publication was printed from that block set in 1958, and very nicely too.

There are slight foxing spots on some of the pages and prints on this book but it is in very good condition overall.
