Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketSudden Shower over Shin-OhashiSize: 39.0cm by 26.0cm (15.35 in by 10.24 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Ando Hiroshige Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This image is from the massive series "Edo Meisho Hyakkei" (100 Views of Famous Places in Edo) created by Hiroshige. Perhaps as with any series of that scale, many of the images are fairly forgettable, but this one certainly stands out. A post-war reproduction from the O-Edo Mokuhan-sha Company. This particular edition was produced by the O-Edo Mokuhan-sha in the immediate post-war period. It is very nicely made, especially the 'formless' gradations in the sky, which are frequently done carelessly in productions of this design. As you can see from the information in the cartouche, this one was carved by Kametaro Harada, whose bench Dave is using these days, having received it from Harada-san's son a few years ago.
