Description: A post-war reproduction from the O-Edo Mokuhan-sha Company. The image is from Hiroshige's 'Eight Views of the Capital in Snow'.

This Hiroshige scene was first published in 1928 ... If that seems impossible, read about how it happened here.

The sun rises over Susaki after a heavy snow. Not daunted by the cold, a fisherman casts his line from the bridge, and a woman starts her daily errands.

Bokashi gradation has been used in several places, giving depth and perspective to the print.

This particular edition was produced by the O-Edo Mokuhan-sha, probably in the 1950-60s period. There are a few foxing spots from its long storage in their packaging, from which it has now been (thankfully) released!
