Description: A beautiful woodblock-printed postcard probably published for foreign tourists in the 1950s, featuring a sightseeing spot in Kyoto. This print is seems to have been based on "Gozan no Okuribi" (五山送り火), more commonly known as "Daimonji" (大文字), a summer festival in Kyoto in which five giant bonfires are lit on mountains surrounding the city. The bright colours of the clothing of the women on the bridge contrast with the gray rain and give the print a lyrical feel.
