Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketHotaru (Fireflies)Size: 40.0cm by 30.5cm (15.75 in by 12.01 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Okada Yoshio Era: Mid Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: We have a single print from the well-known set of four designs that the late Okada Yoshio created for the Genji Monogatari. [The full set is included in our Mokuhankan Collection here.] The print set was created by the Yuyudo Company in the late 1970s. Okada's designs originally appeared in the Shukan Asahi weekly magazine, to accompany a modern adaptation of the Genji story by the noted writer Tanabe Seiko.
Here is the 'raw' image itself, with the natural edge. The print came to us in framed condition. We normally remove prints from frames, as the work is nearly always cheaply done, using non-archival materials. This one seems to have been done properly, so we have left it alone. [Note that the front 'glass' is not glass, but an acrylic/perspex material, so it should be fairly safe to ship.] The back is easily openable. The print itself is mounted in what gives every appearance of being a proper 'archival' system, with folded 'washi' paper corners. Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
