Description: Abuna-e, a term used for images that are not outright sex scenes but are certainly risqué, translates literally as 'dangerous pictures'. Other designs from this same album are far more explicit, and would thus be called shunga ("spring pictures").

Just what is happening here is open to a few interpretations. The gentleman does not seem particularly happy, and one possible explanation for this is the fact that he has just discovered that the lady is wearing a hara-maki, a type of waistband many Japanese women wear when they are pregnant.
