Description: Tomiichiro Tokuriki (1902-2000) was born and spent his life in Kyoto, where he helped develop Kyoto's 'Sosaku Hanga'.

This print from his 'Famous Historic and Holy Places' series shows the torii gate of Kameyama Shrine on the far side of the bridge. In the foreground we have an udon and soba noodle shop next to large stone lantern, with an overflowing basket of persimmons out front on a wintry, moonlit night.

Tokuriki did not shy away from depicting the modernization of Japan, prominently including power lines in this work.
