The original print was made in the 1830s, although this particular print is a post-war reproduction. The dawn breaks over the entrance to Tokyo's most famous pleasure district. The mist starts to clear, and two figures can be seen - perhaps a courtesan and her guest, who is just leaving in the early morning...
