Description: One of fifty-four prints by Utagawa Kunisada I (Toyokuni III) (1786–1864) from the "Sono Sugata Yukari no Utsushie" series adapting the well-known "Tale of Genji". The title of the series literally means "Magic Lantern Slides of That Romantic Purple Figure", the figure in question being, of course, the eponymous Prince Genji.

The colours used in the print are quite luxurious, and there is a little karazuri blind-embossing used in sections of one of the character's kimono.

There are creases to the print and the paper extremities are worn. A few holes to the print have been repaired.
