Designer: Mizuno Toshikata Era: Meiji | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ![]() Description: This is one print from Mizuno Toshikata's famous "Selection of Thirty-six Beauties" (or "Thirty-six Elegant Selections") series. Each print in this series had a title denoting the period in which the scene was set, and a beautiful woman in the costume of that era. This particular print, the 26th in the series, is set in the Shōhō era (1644-48), and shows a woman just out of the bath, with freshly washed hair. There is some beautiful fan-patterned blind-embossing to the title box in the print, and the lines have been cut in such a way as to preserve the feeling of the original brushstrokes. There are some very minor ink marks to the print, and a light stain to the lower right. ![]() ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
