Item from the Mokuhankan Flea MarketFarmer Rokusuke of Keya villageSize: 34.5cm by 24.0cm (13.58 in by 9.45 in) | Enlargement | Shipping Code: [L] ? Designer: Yoshitoshi Era: Meiji | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: Description: This is one print from Yoshitoshi's "Twenty-four Accomplishments in Imperial Japan" series. It shows a scene from the kabuki play "Hiko-san Gongen chikai no sukedachi" in which Osono attacks Keyamura Rokusuke, a farmer, thinking he had killed her father. Rokusuke protects Yasamatsu, the grandson of Yoshioka Ichimisai, Rokusuke's late sword instructor and Osono's father, although he hasn't recognised him yet and believes him to just be a lost boy. The scene pictured is from just before the moment Yasamatsu identifies Osono, the attacker, as his aunt, one of the highlights of the play. There is delicate blind embossing to sections of Osono's kimono, and mica powder has been used on Rokusuke's outfit. There is some discolouration to the print and a few small marks towards the lower margin, but apart from that the print is in nice condition.
