Description: A print by Toyokuni depicting actor Iwai Kumesaburo III as Osome, daughter of the Aburaya (Aburaya Musume Osome).

The furin (little summer bell) at the left side of the print suggests that Osome is writing her letter by the light of a lantern on a warm summer's evening.

The beautiful wood grain of the background printing block is very prominent, and Osome's delicate hairline shows the skill of the carver. Mica powder has been used at the top of the print, perhaps to suggest a starry night sky.

There are several very small holes to the left side of the print, and a few wormholes. The edges of the print are also very lightly worn, and there is a crease to the centre.
