Description: This is the central print from a triptych titled "Dai Nanaju-roku Dai Sutoku Tenno" (Seventy-Sixth Generation, Emperor Sutoku), from Yoshitoshi's "Dainihonshi Ryakuzue" ("Concise Illustrated History of Imperial Japan") series of triptychs. The print shows Emperor Sutoku in exile on the island of Sanuki, refusing to meet with the Priest Rennyo.

The margins of the print have been trimmed a little, and there are several light creases and a little discolouration to some sections.
