Description: A complete set of horizontal o-ban prints, designed by Katsushika Hokusai. The series focuses on bridges around Japan well-known in Hokusai's day. Eleven prints in the set are known, and as this number is unusual for an ukiyo-e set, there is suspicion that the series was initially planned to contain more designs but was given up part-way due to some unknown circumstances. These prints are collected in the original case along with an information booklet about the series in both Japanese and English. A sample of the commentary: “Hokusai’s interest in bridges naturally led to his observation of their curves. His scientific eyes caught the principle of their curvature”.

Included with the set is a wooden frame (acrylic), into which any of the prints can be inserted for display.

The images below show the condition of the prints along with the frame, casing, and booklet. The case has a few scratches but other than that everything is in good condition. We have prepared a package of images - scans of all 11 prints in the set - so that you can check each one carefully.
