Description: This is one image from a set of 10 designs from the 1830s - Famous Places in the Eastern Capital.

Tsukuda Island was located just below the Eitai Bashi (bridge) over the Sumida River, and the low height of the bridge meant that sea-going ships of the type seen in this image could not get past that point of the river. Goods were off-loaded at this point to smaller craft for further shipment up the river.
