Description

Again, this lady is Akashi no Kimi. She was asked by Genji to move to the capital, Kyoto, but hesitated to join the sophisticated aristocratic society.

She left Akashi (the rural area where she was living) on Genji's request, and moved to a place closer to Kyoto with her mother and daughter. Genji was pleased that she moved much closer, but it was still quite far from his residence, so he wasn't able to visit at will.

The direct translation of the title 'Matsukaze' is 'breeze blowing through the pines,' which indicates loneliness.

This image presumably depicts the moment when Genji finally visited her.
