烏と月 (Crows and Moon)
Price: $ 70.00£ 53.50€ 62.25
Description: This image is generally attributed to Ogata Korin, but exactly in what form he drew it - if indeed it was him - is not clear. The version you see here was probably created in the Meiji-era by one of the many print publishers operating at that time. They knew a 'good thing' when they saw it, and so do we!
They don't come much more 'simple' than this, and they don't come much more effective. Although crows are not the most lovable of birds, and actually are hugely despised here in Tokyo, there is just something about this image that transcends such feelings.
Note: This print was originally published in my Surimono Albums series. I made approximately 200 copies of this print at that time, and distributed them only in album form, never as single prints. It is my thought that after the 200 album sets of any particular album have been sold, the blocks (still in absolutely perfect condition) could then be used to produce prints to be added to the Mokuhankan catalogue, with the printing being done by hired craftsmen working under my direction. That particular album is not yet sold out, but this particular print is being offered here as a special item.
Note: this print is a 'bleed' design, and has no border, unlike many others in this catalogue. The print you will receive appears exactly as the scanned image you see on this page.
