Java Sparrow on Magnolia
Designer: Katsushika Hokusai
Era: Post-war | Production quality (1~5): 3 | Condition (1~5): 4
Description: We purchase prints in batches at the wholesale auctions, and when we get everything opened for inspection, sometimes find items that are 'less than' what we had expected. What to do with them?
This one is a good example: some of the colours are slightly mis-registered, there are baren striation marks in the background, and - as you can see - the printer was careless with how he handled the margins, leaving quite a bit of mess here and there.
But the print itself is an extremely popular one in our shop, and normally sells here for around 12,000~14,000 yen, depending on condition. So we'll mark this one down, and perhaps some 'creative framing' at your end can take care of it ...
