Description: Published by Takamizawa and designed by Utamaro in his signature ōkubi-e (大首絵) format. This print, Poppin o Fuku Musume, depicts a young woman wearing fine dress, blowing a glass pipe known as a poppen (occasionally also spelled popen or poppin) Poppens were extremely popular in Japan during the early 1790s, when Utamaro is believed to have designed this print.

The carving is delicate and colours on her kimono remain vivid, the background is printed with a fine mica powder although there are some signs of foxing.
