Description: The "Shubi no Matsu" (Pine of Success) in the title was a famous pine tree located on the riverbank of nowadays Kuramae. In this print, it only peeks out slightly, surrounded by a fence on the right side. It is a unique composition typical of Kuniyoshi, zooming in extremely close on a corner of a stone wall where crabs and wharf roaches crawl about. In the far distance, a boat, people, and a bridge look tiny, while the dandelions at the top create a surreal atmosphere.

This version is a post-war reproduction by the Adachi Company.
