Description: Kobayashi Kiyochika, considered one of the "last ukiyo-e artists," took the world by storm with his Kōsenga (light-and-shadow prints), which captured the changing landscapes of the Meiji period.

This particular print depicts a night scene of Taro Inari Shrine, which was nestled among the rice fields between Senso-ji Temple and the Yoshiwara district. The moonlight sharply casts the shadows of a solitary torii gate and withered trees, evoking a deep sense of loneliness and tranquility.

While the original was published in 1877, this print is likely a post-war reproduction by the Adachi Comapany.
