Description: This print by Tokuriki Tomikichiro (1902–1999) is part of the series '36 Views of Mt. Fuji’. This shouldn’t be confused with the series with the same name, designed by Katsushika Hokusai. The famous series from 1830-1832 was the inspiration for this series by Tomikichiro, about 100 years later, in 1939. Just like Hokusai, Tomikichiro wanted to capture Mt. Fuji in 36 different prints, but in a 'modern’ shin-hanga style.

This design is number 3 from the series and is called ‘Rain at Susono Kariba’. Susono city is located in Shizuoka prefecture, at the foot of Mt. Fuji.

As expected, Mt. Fuji is largely depicted in this design. It is seen from behind some rice fields with trees and farm houses on a rainy day.
