Description: These prints date from the 1970s/80s, and were made by the Kajikawa workshop, which was hired to produce a folio containing 20 triptychs (60 prints all). They were made at a reduced size (29.5 x 19.5cm) from the original Edo-era prints, which were in the large o-ban format.

This triptych depicts a scene of domestic industry with four women seated, diligently sorting and sewing fabrics. On the left sheet, a woman holds a piece of fabric in both hands while her young son plays between her legs, reaching for a fan on the floor. An interesting detail is her face seen through the fabric, creating a captivating transparency effect that adds charm to the design. Another delightful detail appears on the right sheet, where another child plays with a cat.

This design exemplifies Utamaro's skill for fine details, capturing the women's gestures and incorporating a touch of humor into the everyday scene he portrays.

Please note that the prints are lightly glued to a mat paper with three windows, and will be shipped folded. The displayed dimension is each print size.
