Description: Hokusai offers us here a vivid glimpse into a fleeting moment of artisanal labor in the Edo period. Under the summer heat, two potters are working at a ceramic factory along the banks of the Imado River. The man on the left is fixing and shaping roof tiles using a mold. Beside him, the artisan on the right is carefully sculpting a lion figure while a completed demon head rests nearby.

Through this scene, Hokusai elevates manual craftsmanship into a subject worthy of artistic attention.

This version is a post-war reproduction by the Adachi Company.
