Description: Shunsho, who had made his name with actor portraits, ventured into the new genre of sumo prints. He sought to depict everything from the ceremonial ring-entering gestures to the decisive moment of a bout with delicate, realistic brushwork.

In this print, East Ozeki Washigahama Otoemon is depicted on the right and Kimenzan Tanigorō is depicted on the left, filling the entire screen with great force.

This version is a post-war reproduction by Takamizawa Company.

There are slight toning and soiling on this print. Back of the print has remains of glue removal.
