Description: This print is part of the series "Children’s Customs and Manners" (Kodomo Fuzoku) by Miyagawa Shuntei. The series consists of two sets of 24 prints, each illustrating children engaged in various activities—from seasonal and indoor/outdoor play to festive events and scenes of everyday life during the Meiji era.

Shuntei’s designs are distinguished by their detailed figures, featuring pale tones, soft brushwork, and a subtle color palette evoking a nostalgic view of childhood.

This print depicts children playing gomikakushi. In this game, players first show each other the small objects that must be hidden—such as bits of wood or small stones—then bury them in the ground within a designated area. The “oni” (the seeker) then tries to find the hidden items.

The paper is soft and has multiple areas of wrinkles and creases.
