The set was originally published in about 1834, and all of its prints are signed Saki no Hokusai Iitsu Hitsu ("by the brush of Iitsu, formerly named Hokusai") in the block. There are eleven known prints in the series, each depicting, as the title indicates, a different famous bridge. Here we see Yahagi Bridge, the longest bridge on the Tōkaidō postal route, thronged with travelers. The river has almost completely dried up, allowing samurai to practice archery on the mudflats. The name and address of the original publisher of this print can be seen on the umbrellas under the bridge, and long sheets of handmade paper are shown drying in the breeze to the left of the umbrellas.
