A leading figure in 20th-century Japanese art, he was honored with the prestigious Order of Culture and served as chief director of the Japanese Fine Arts Institute. Okumura developed a distinctive technique characterized by the repeated application of white gofun pigment—sometimes as many as 100 to 200 layers—as a foundation. This process produced paintings of exceptional luminosity and depth, resulting in an exquisite quality of color that became a hallmark of his work. This print depicts Mount Fuji rising majestically, its snow-capped peak standing out in striking contrast against a clear blue sky.
