In 1657, the year after the Great Fire of Meireki (1657), the Yoshiwara pleasure quarter relocated to the rice paddies behind Sensō-ji Temple in Asakusa. "Yoshiwara no Tei" serves as a kind of guidebook, depicting the journey to the relocated Yoshiwara (Shin-Yoshiwara) and scenes within the quarter across these 12 individual prints. The series includes the following scenes: Nihon-zutsumi Iriguchi no Kido (Entrance Gate of Nihon-zutsumi): Dismounting from a horse at the entrance gate leading to Yoshiwara. This version is a reproduction by Adachi Company. It comes with an index sheet, a map of the Yoshiwara, and a pamphlet (all in Japanese). ![]() There's a colophon attached to the inside of the case. ![]() Here are the prints.
