He began his woodblock printing career around 1929 and went on to found the "Matsukyu" printmaking studio after the Second World War, where he trained apprentices. A central figure in the Kyoto Creative Print Movement, he was known for his unique approach of even mass-producing works using the traditional ukiyo-e method. This print from the "New Kyoto Famous Places" series depicts the scenery of Arashiyama in Kyoto, including the Togetsukyo Bridge, Katsura River, and the mountains. Published by Matsukyu.
