Designer: Utagawa Kunitora Era: Post-war | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 8,000$ 59.00£ 45.00€ 51.00 ![]() Description: Utagawa Kunitora started designing prints as a pupil of Toyokuni Utagawa and created many designs from the 1810s till the 1840s. He was inspired by Western landscape paintings, which is why he added bolder shading to his designs than most other designers during that era. This creates depth and perspective in a landscape, something that was considered a very Western style back then, rather than Japanese. This specific print is part of the series 'Eight Views of Omi'. This was a popular subject, especially during the 1820s, when other designers, including Hiroshige, also created a series based on Omi, which is now Shiga prefecture. ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
