Description: This print of a beauty at Totsuka station, is part of an untitled series of the Fifty-three Stations of the Tôkaidô Road by Eisen, originally published around the 1830s. In this series, he paired beauties with each of the stations of the famous road by featuring large portraits of beautiful women on the foreground.

In the upper section of this print, a red vignette displays the name of the station Totsuka and the number 6, marking it as the sixth station along Hiroshige’s Tokaido Route.

In the foreground, a young woman stands dressed in elegant, traditional attire, gracefully holding a fan near her face. She turns delicately toward a black lacquered box at her feet. Behind her, houses form part of the scenic backdrop, while travelers ascend the stone steps of a sloping road that passes between tall pines.

A small poem written below completes the composition.
