Description: 'Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces' is a series by Ando Hiroshige, created in his later years, depicting famous places across Japan. The 'Sixty-odd Provinces' refers to the old provincial administrative divisions established under Japan's ritsuryō system. These divisions were used from the Nara period up until the Meiji era, and the term is effectively used to mean 'the whole of Japan'.

This series, which takes famous provincial sites as its subject, consists of a total of 70 prints. This includes 69 landscape prints—one from each of the 68 provinces of the Go-ki Shichi-do (five provinces and seven circuits) and one from Edo, Asakusa Festival, plus an index print. The series was produced between 1853 and 1856.

All prints in the series are in a vertical format and feature innovative compositions. These include boldly depicting the foreground to emphasize perspective and employing daring cropping techniques. 'Naruto in Awa' would be the highlight among the series, capturing the terrific movement of the waves whirling.

This version is a reproduction by Mainichi Art Publishing in 1997. The original outer case was broken, unfortunately, we stored them in two A3 size folders.
