Description: This scene takes place at Yasashi Bay, also known as Kujukuri, in Kazusa province, which is now located in Boso area, in Chiba prefecture. Fishermen are pulling nets ashore, which are probably filled with sardines, as the area was famous for it. In the left bottom corner, other men have gathered to transport the fish to nearby markets in their baskets.

This design is part of the ‘Famous Views of the Sixty-odd Provinces’ series by Ando Hiroshige. He created one famous view from each of the (back then) 68 provinces of Japan. With one additional print of Edo (now Tokyo) and a list of contents, the series consists of 70 prints in total. The series was first published by Koshimuraya Heisuke from 1853 to 1856. This version is a post-war reproduction by Mainichi Art Publishing.
