Description: This set of woodblock prints is a postwar reproduction by the Ukiyo-e Hanga Kanko-kai of the illustrated book "Ehon Mushi Erami," which was published in 1788.

The original book is a kyoka (humorous or satirical waka poem) book consisting of 15 illustrations in total: 30 kyoka poems composed by Edo kyoka poets using insects as their theme, accompanied by insect illustrations by the master of bijinga (pictures of beautiful women), Utamaro.

"Mushi Erami" refers to selecting insects outdoors for mushi-awase (insect matching contests) where the quality of insect-related poems was judged. Here, the names of 30 contemporary kyoka poets, including the selector Yadoya no Meshimori, can be seen. "Erami" has the same meaning as "erabi" (selection).
