Yoshiwara was known as the biggest red light district in Edo (Tokyo) in Hiroshige's time. This design is one of the over 100 designs from Hiroshige's "Famous Places in Edo" series. During the post-war era, it was published by Yuyudo as part of their "Hiroshige Snow Scenes" set.
