Designer: Torii Kiyonaga Era: Taisho | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ![]() Description: Part of a monthly subscription series of three woodblock prints issued by the Yamato Hanga Kanko-kai in ca. 1924. Three of Kiyonaga's famous tall and 'willowy' figures, the print captures a moment of shared intimacy and quiet observation. One of them, seated and focused, trims her nails, her loose robe falling away to reveal her shoulders and part of her legs. Beside her stands another woman in a loosely draped kimono, her bare chest and striking red skirt providing a vivid contrast that catches the eye. The third figure, dressed in a deep blue robe, adds a rich tonal balance to the color palette, enhancing the subtle vibrancy of the other robes. Kiyonaga’s fine attention to flowing lines and graceful poses conveys a calm intimacy, while the distinct garments, textures, and hues blend harmoniously. There are traces of glue removal on the back of this print. ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
