Designer: Torii Kiyonaga Era: Early Showa | Currency: $ / £ / € Price: ¥ 15,000$ 110.00£ 80.50€ 92.25 ![]() Description: The publisher Murasaki Shobo was working on collection books where one ukiyo-e designer was highlighted in each book. They started by publishing books on Hokusai followed by one on Utamaro. In 1953, this Kiyonaga edition came out. The first four images of this book are woodblock prints, though they may be partially machine-printed. The other pages of the book include texts and many machine-printed images. Many of the original images were from the 'shunga' genre, but because this book was aimed at a general reader, only portions of those designs have been used. This book comes in a wooden box of size L x W x H = 28.0 x 20.5 x 3.5 cm. A small pamphlet with reviews written in Japanese is included. The wooden box has several cracks and a large split on both top and bottom covers. ![]() Browse thumbnail pages of various selections from the catalogue ...
