Description: A print from the Flowers Of Edo series by Toyokuni. It shows Actor Bando Muraemon I as Ishigameya Jidanta, representing the Wa Brigade, Eighth Group, Ikenohata Nakamachi. He peers through his telescope from one panel to the next, an interesting little feature of the print. The wood grain texture in the lower right panel is also a nice touch.

The series name, "Flowers of Edo", refers to fires. Each title panel for prints in this series shows the lantern and matoi (identifying standard) of one brigade of firefighters (hikeshi) assigned to a district.

The title gives the name or number of a brigade, its group, and its district. The kabuki scene chosen to match is depicted below it.

There is a little trimming to the margin of this print and a bump to the lower edge.
