The My Solitudes is a set of prints originally created by woodblock printmaker David Bull from 2007 to 2009. Each print was designed, carved and printed by himself, and sent out to his personal subscribers during those years. He made approximately 200 copies of each print, roughly half of which were subscribed to at the time. Dave's personal printmaking activities have now been brought into the Mokuhankan organization, which is handling management of subscriptions for the prints remaining from his original stock.

From Dave’s original description, back in 2007: "Ever since childhood I have been interested in outdoor life, making frequent hiking and camping trips. In recent years I have explored areas near my home in Ome, a suburb of Tokyo, and have discovered three 'private' places to which I frequently return - one on a quiet river, one deep on a forested mountainside, and one on a deserted stretch of seacoast. In this series, the collectors will come along with me, as I return to these places with my camping gear - notebook and sketchbook in hand."

The 12 prints in the series are not sold individually, but only as a set, each one each paired with a chapter of a book - subscribers receive one volume each month for a year, resulting in a complete set of 12 books/prints.

Each print carries Dave's 'baren' identification embossment and a seal specially designed for this series, along with his signature and the date of printing:

Price / Payment

The prints/books are $ 40.00£ 29.25€ 34.25 each - an astonishing price for the quality of print you will receive. A shipping fee of $ 6.90£ 5.50€ 6.00 is added to this (same rate globally).

The initial payment is handled through this shopping cart. Before each subsequent monthly shipment is made, subscribers will receive an email with a link to an invoice, and as soon as remittance is received, the print/book is shipped (in a very strong mailer).

Gift Subscriptions

Subscriptions to this print series may be arranged as 'Gift Subscriptions'. The invoices go to you, but the prints go to a recipient of your choice.

Postage

As an extra 'bonus', the postage on all the packages will be covered by using the newest issues of Japanese commemorative stamps (5~6 of them on each package), so not only will you be building a print collection, but a stamp collection as well!
